Improving the Maximum Power Extraction from Wind Turbines Using a Second-Generation CRONE Controller

Developing precise and robust algorithms that can help in obtaining maximum power yield a variable speed wind turbine is an important area of research engineering. The present manuscript proposes technique utilizes second-generation CRONE controller for the tracking (MPPT) to maximize generation energy conversion system (WECS) based on double-fed induction generator (DFIG). authors propose this novel method because classical controllers cannot provide adequate performance terms extracting from turbines when applying real profile they guarantee high stability WECS. Moreover, sufficiently handles problems related control effort level. was mathematically modeled using MATLAB/Simulink compared with four other types MPPT techniques, which include proportional-integral linear (PI), nonlinear sliding mode (SMC), backstepping (BS), fuzzy logic (FLC). Two different profiles, step profile, were considered comparative study. response time, dynamic error percentage, static percentage quantitative parameters compared, qualitative included set-point precision. This test demonstrated superiority all parameters.
